Detailed description of Great Cove Golf Recreation
Great Cove Golf Recreation, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Mcconnellsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Great Cove Golf & Recreation golf course first opened for play in 1965. The original nine holes at Great Cove are now the front side of this 18 hole course. The back nine was built in the early 90's. The front nine plays long and makes for an enjoyable opening, while the back nine is tighter and more demanding on shot-making.
#1 is a Par 4 measuring 465 yards from the back tees. This hole sweeps from 4 sets of tees down to the fairway 70 feet below, and then rises 60 feet to a large undulating elevated green.
#14 and #15 are two short par 4's that are a great chance to work on your score by getting a birdie or two.
#17 is rated the most difficult - it requires both length and strategic placing of your drive. A par 5 of over 550 yards.
#18, follows up the 17th as a 460 yard Par 4. One last chance to bomb your drive and get within reach of a 2nd shot to the large finishing green that is relatively flat.
The Great Cove Golf & Recreation Club golf course plays to a par-72 and a maximum distance of 6,780 yards. The course rating is 70.9 and the slope rating is 118.

Really, you can't get more for the price. Sets right in the mountains, which is nice. Not really too much else to look at and there wasn't much of a clubhouse, but who cares. Course was in good shape and a fair practice facility. Only complaint on the course was it lacked a double cut. It went straight to fairway to thick grass, so keep an eye on your ball. Once you figure that out, it becomes fair. I had fun and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I would almost even say a hidden jem.
